Art Hamptons has announced its program details for the 9th edition of their international contemporary art fair.
Beginning Thursday, June 23, in Bridgehampton, Art Hamptons will take place on the private estate grounds of Maria and Kenneth Fishel located at 900 Lumber Lane and Schuttle Hole Rd. A private opening night preview is scheduled beginning with a ribbon cutting ceremony with Marion and Samuel Waxman of the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation.
There’ll be a series of exclusive events for VIP guests, along with special programming and conversation panels that will offer a specific focus. For example, “Cuban Art Today” will feature art produced in Cuba, highlight the Cuban and East End’s artistic influence and introduce a unique collection of work from emerging and modern artists from around the globe.
The “First Look” is an invitation-only preview beginning at 5:30 p.m.; prospective guests can purchase an “Opening Night Black Card Preview.” Proceeds will benefit both Longhouse Reserve and the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation. Also on Thursday, June 23, at 6:30 p.m., a Private Reception will be hosted by Modern Luxury’s Beach Magazine.
On Friday, June 24, a private tour of the LongHouse Reserve will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will feature works from masters such as Yoko Ono, William De Kooning and Buckminster Fuller. In the early afternoon, artist Jean-Marie Haessle will present his latest pieces and panelists Glenn Gissler, Suzanne Lovell, Amy Lau, Barbara Toll, Julie Saul and Suzanne Slesin will host a discussion “Artful Living: Passionate Pursuit or Investment — Or Both?”
On Saturday, June 25, a book signing will be hosted at booth 118, “Punks, Poets & Provocateurs,” highlighting the work of photographer Marcia Resnick and her years between ’77 to ’82, documenting icons, iconoclasts and antiheroes. This time-period specifically showcasing the influence of jazz, rock and roll, literature, art and film is reflective in photographs of legends such as Iggy Pop, Mick Jagger, William S. Burroughs, John Waters, Andy Warhol and Jean-Michael Basquiat to name a few.
Later in the afternoon, a private tour will be held for Americas Society Guests. Michael Alfano will discuss his work as sculptor for the past two decades, and the panel, “Cuban Art Today,” will kick off with Carole Rosenberg and Luis Miret who will discuss Havana’s current art scene.
To end the evening, a “Young Collectors Reception” will be held in the VIP lounge for young prospective gallerists and collectors — an event only open to active members of young patron’s groups from metropolitan and regional museums.
Sunday, June 26, panelists Helen Harrison, Cristina Strassfield and Dawn Watson will discuss “The Allure Of The East End” at 2:00 p.m. in the VIP lounge.
